One of the accomplishments of my BD, AmeriVet Securities, Inc., that I am most proud of is the role of the BD, and its RIA entity, in the development and fielding of Mine Resistant, Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles. In 2004, an officer in Technical Solutions, Inc., a company in South Carolina contacted our BD and asked for help in raising money to bring it out of insolvency in order to perform on a federal contract to build MRAP vehicles. The reason our BD was contacted was because the company wanted to work with a FINRA member that was certified as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB). The only remaining Principal in AmeriVet active at that time (I was in Iraq, and I had let all my reps go because I was in the process of inactivating my BD) raised the $300,000 needed in record time thus enabling the company to begin building MRAPs. The RIA entity (which was basically just me) did the No Action Letter for the SEC. What few people know is that the FINRA, via one of its FINRA members, played a vitally important role in the production of MRAP vehicles which since 2004 have saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of US and Allied military members and they are still saving lives today.
